Awarded the Moran of the Burning Spear(MBS) by the President of Kenya for Environmental Efforts. Also awarded the Head of State Commendation (HSC) by the President of Kenya for Exemplary work in Sports and Environment Management. A Tree Ambassador - Total Oil Company through the prestigious Eco-challenge Campaign. Under his leadership, Green Africa Foundation has managed to plant over 20 Million trees over the last 10 Years, setting a record. Endeavors to passionately create opportunities for sound green businesses to smoothly venture in Africa.

Executive Director

Commissioner John Kioli is a distinguished Climate Change and policy expert with over 24 years of experience. Holding a Master's in Climate Change and Sustainability, he has demonstrated unparalleled leadership in drafting, advocating for, and implementing critical environmental and energy policies at national and county levels in Kenya.
As a member of Kenya's National Climate Change Council, Kioli provided strategic direction on legislative frameworks, such as the National Climate Change Act (2016) and the National Climate Change Action Plans (1, 2, and 3). His contributions have also shaped the drafting and implementation of county-level legislation, including the Kitui County Charcoal Management Act (2014) , the Kajiado Climate Change Act, and the Narok County Environment Act and over 10 policies and legislation documents.
As Chairman of the Kenya Climate Change Working Group (KCCWG) and member of ACCESS Coalition, Kioli has advanced climate justice and renewable energy policies in Kenya and across sub-Saharan Africa. John has also made substantial academic contributions to the field, authoring training manuals and publications such as “A Review of Energy Access in Kenya” (2019) and “Impacts of Climate Change on Energy Security” (UNECA, 2015). He was recently appointed by the President of Kenya as Commissioner Nairobi Rivers Commission.

His passion for inclusive and impactful initiatives has seen him play key roles in project development and implementation, proposal development, donor engagement, and grassroots mobilization.

Accountant

Monika is an experienced accountant with over 7 years of experience with a background in Economics and statistics from Kenyatta University. She is currently the accountant and the administrator of Green Africa Foundation Nairobi, Kenya. Monika helps in evaluating financial operations to recommend best-practices and processes, identifying issues and strategize solutions, and this helps the organization run efficiently. Through this platform, Monika has overtime learnt and developed passion and interest for environmental conservation hence she has curated several environmental initiatives including reforestation efforts and campaigns to encourage adoption of green solution.

Shedrack Musyindu
Shedrack Musyindu

Assistant Project Officer

Shedrack is an experienced project management professional with over 10 years in the NGO sector, specialised in the design and implementation of programs focused on livelihoods, food security, humanitarian response, and climate change adaptation and mitigation. He has worked extensively on agricultural value chain development, market systems, financial inclusion, gender-transformative programming, and climate change advocacy, known for his hands-on approach and strong community engagement skills. Shedrack has mastered the skill to work effectively with diverse communities, build partnerships, and ensure the successful delivery of impactful programs. He is also well-trained in project management and thematic areas of development, having participated in various professional courses. "I am self-motivated and a team player who aims to achieve the set objectives and add value to the system."

Mercy Wanjiku Kamau

Research and Capacity Building Officer

She is a skilled environmental and climate change professional deeply committed to advancing sustainable development through research, training, and capacity building, particularly in environmental governance, climate-smart practices, and inclusive energy systems. Mercy holds a Master of Science in Climate Change and Agroforestry. She is a NEMA-licensed EIA and EA Expert and a GRI-certified trainer in Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG) reporting. Additionally, Mercy holds a Certificate in Just Transition for African Policymakers and has completed specialised training in Environmental and Social Safeguards (ESS), equipping her to provide strategic guidance on policy development, impact assessments, and sustainability reporting. Her training provides a strong interdisciplinary foundation for tackling the interconnected challenges of climate change, land use, and natural resource management. She has led and facilitated numerous training programs aimed at enhancing institutional and community capacity for environmental compliance, climate adaptation, and low-carbon development. Mercy has worked with government agencies, civil society organisations, and local communities to promote environmentally sound practices, strengthen policy frameworks, and build resilience in the face of climate change. Her work is driven by a passion for environmental justice, participatory development, and evidence-based decision-making.
