SUSTAINABLE CLIMATE ACTION IN AFRICA CONFERENCE (SCAAC), MAY 2020

Kenya Climate Change Working Group (KCCWG) and the University of Embu are organising a Sustainable Climate Action in Africa Symposium (SCAAS) in May 2020. The theme of the Symposium is 'Strengthening Response to Climate Change: Innovative Community Solutions for Food Security'. The two institutions have formed a joint consortium to organize a series of annual thematic Sustainable Climate Action in Africa Symposia (SCAAS) across Kenya.

Under the project: Strengthening partnerships between NSAs, county governments and citizens to enhance county governance processes and service delivery - 2019, Green Africa Foundation is looking for 2 consultants to undertake the following consultancies: Consultancy Service for simplification of the Marsabit County Program Based Budget 2018/2019 for citizen engagement under the AHADI-USAID/UK program and Consultancy for training of ToTs and CSOs on Public Expenditure Management cycle (PEM), Public Expenditure Tracking tools (PETS) and advocacy on social accountability and civic engagement under the AHADI- USAID/UK program.

Citizens and Non-State Actors' role in Public Expenditure Management and Tracking. A case study of Marsabit County

Building the capacity of citizens and NSAs in Public Expenditure Management(PEM) and the use of Public Expenditure Tracking Survey (PETS) tools empowers them with the necessary information and tools for effective public participation which will contribute to better service delivery in Marsabit County. In a participatory process, Green Africa Foundation worked with over 250 community members in Marsabit county to develop and pilot a public expenditure tracking survey tool. The process entailed training of TOTs on Public Expenditure Management (PEM) and how to access information from the national and county government.

Training Thematic Working Groups on Public Expenditure Management and Tracking in Marsabit

On 14th and 15th of August 2018, Green Africa Foundation undertook a two days training workshop for the thematic working group members/TOTs to further build their capacity on Public Expenditure Management. The workshop was held at Silvia's Inn Hotel, Marsabit County. The training was facilitated by Mr. Ogada and Mrs. Gatiba, Project Officer and Advocacy & MERL officer respectively at Green Africa Foundation and Mr. Abuya who is a consultant working on the PET survey tools for the Foundation. The latter presented an assessment report he conducted in July 2018 on the Status of Public Awareness on Public Expenditure Management Cycle & availability of PET Tools in Marsabit County.
