Kitui, Kenya October 16th 2014: The Japanese Ambassador to Kenya H.E. Tatsushi Terada together with Kitui Governor H.E. Dr. Julius Malombe and Green Africa Foundation Founder/Chairperson Dr. Isaac Kalua officially opened the community water project funded by the Government of Japan through the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP).

The objective of the project was to supply clean and safe water to 1,500 households in Isaangwa Community and to provide entrepreneurial skills to small-scale farmers on various agricultural activities and environmental conservation at the training centre.

Ambassador Terada congratulated Green Africa Foundation for the excellent work and completing the project on time. “I thank the Green Africa Foundation, local authorities, contractor, external auditor and the local community for the dedication and hard work they put towards the successful completion of this project. Well done, everybody. I believe, when water and sanitation issues are eased, life in your communities will improve a lot. Maji ni uhai”, said Ambassador.

Governor Malombe commended the Government of Japan for the continued support of development projects in Kenya, especially in Kitui County. “This program will definitely change the status of the county from being water and food insecure to a region of plenty water and food,'' The Governor said.

Accompanied by his ministers, Mr. Charles Kang'e for Water and Agriculture and Ms. Ruth Koki for Health, the Governor said he will soon be contacting the Government of Japan through the Ambassador for support in constructing 2,400 water pans in the County.
