Mhasibu Sacco adopts the Plant Your Age initiative as they celebrate their 34th anniversary

Mhasibu Sacco adopted the Plant your age initiative as their Cooperate Social Responsibility (CSR) project when they celebrated their 34th anniversary. The event was held on 25th January 2020 at Nairobi Primary School. During the event, 34 Muthiga trees were planted to signify the great milestone that the Sacco has been able to achieve in the past 34 years. Muthiga, also known as Greenheart or pepper-bark tree or elephant pepper tree is popularly known for its medicinal purposes. In addition to the 34 trees, 24 other fruit trees were also planted so that they can provide fruits to supplement food supply in the school once they mature.
The event was graced by the team from Mhasibu Sacco led by their Chairman Charles Miricho, Green Africa Foundation led by Chairman Dr. Isaac Kalua, Nairobi primary school led by the deputy principal Madam Eve Galgalo, members of the media and environmental enthusiasts. Mr. Charles and Dr. Kalua then launched the plaque indicating the partnership between Mhasibu Sacco and Green Africa Foundation in planting these commemorative trees. After the keynote addresses, Dr. Kalua led the team in a demonstration on how to plant a tree and nature it to maturity. Thereafter, all the members present got down to the business of the day of planting trees which was quite an enjoyable activity. After all was done, the Mhasibu team led us in a cake cutting ceremony to mark crown the celebrations.
